Working for the 91st District
September 22, 2022
It is a privilege to work for the best interests of your families in the 91st District, and I hope to continue the work as our community’s voice in the Kansas House.
At a time when people are directly impacted by rising prices on everyday goods, Republicans worked to further lower taxes, in addition to increase parental rights, attract businesses to create jobs, and continued work to make government more efficient. Republicans also worked to aid law enforcement in fighting back crime responsibly balance the budget and adopt redistricting maps.
Resolution Denouncing Price Gouging:
In response to calls from Kansas residential and small commercial ratepayers, HCR 5023 was introduced by Republicans to protect Kansas ratepayers through continued investigations of natural gas prices during the old weather event. The resolution denounces instances of price gouging and market manipulation involving natural gas and supports state efforts by the Office of the attorney general and federal efforts by the Federal energy Regulatory Commission to investigate increases in natural gas prices during the extreme cold weather event and encourages efforts to protect Kansas ratepayers. HCR 5023 was adopted by the House 114-2. I voted Yes.
Constitutional amendments:
House Republicans also led the charge to pass a constitutional amendment that reigns in unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats when it comes to rules and regulations that circumvent legislative intent.
Veto Session:
During veto session, the legislature worked to wrap-up most of the unfinished business and voted to override select bills or budget line-items vetoed by the Governor. A few bills did not receive a majority vote to override the veto.
